How it works

Three steps, one sheet of paper, and about two minutes.

  1. Put the paper down

    A sheet of A4 or US Letter on a flat floor. If a wall is nearby, place one short edge against it - helpful, but not required.

  2. Stand on it

    Line your heel up with the near short edge and put your weight on the foot. The measurement is only as accurate as this alignment.

  3. Take one photo

    From as close as you can, with all four corners of the sheet and your whole foot visible. Then mark the corners and your toe, and read the result.

Why a sheet of paper

A known size in the picture

A4 is exactly 210 × 297 mm everywhere in the world. Because the sheet's real size is known, the photo can be converted into millimetres instead of guessed from pixels.

The angle is corrected

Photos are never taken perfectly from above. The four corners of the sheet tell the application exactly how the picture is tilted, and the distortion is calculated away.

You confirm the result

The markers are placed for you, and you correct them before anything is calculated. Nothing is measured until the picture looks right to you.

Common questions

How accurate is the measurement?

Accuracy depends mostly on how carefully the markers are placed and how flat the sheet lies. Placed properly, the result is typically within a few millimetres - close enough to choose between two shoe sizes.

Do I need an app?

No. Everything runs in your browser, on a phone, tablet or computer. There is nothing to install and no account to create.

What paper size can I use?

A4 (210 × 297 mm) or US Letter (215.9 × 279.4 mm). Choose which one you used before calculating - the sheet is the ruler, so it has to be the right one.

Which foot should I measure?

Both, and use the larger one. Most people have feet of slightly different lengths, and shoes have to fit the bigger one. Measuring at the end of the day is best, because feet swell slightly.

Should I measure with socks on?

Measure the way you will wear the shoe. If you normally wear thick socks with these shoes, keep them on.

What happens to my photo?

Your photo is sent to our server, used to take the measurement, and nothing more. It is not linked to your name, no account is needed, and it is not used to identify you or shown to anyone. See the privacy notice.
